Dissolution-precipitation reactions of silicate mineral fibers at alkaline pH
نویسندگان
چکیده
Silicate mineral fibers – stone (Sw) and glass wool (Gw) are promising resources for cementitious binders. Insights gained from their dissolution kinetics under alkaline conditions can help to control the release of elements, formation phases, understand reactivity similar type glasses (soda-lime basalt). Decreasing liquid-to-solid ratio (L/S) affects rate Sw, whereas effect was lower Gw. Residual observed Sw due approaching equilibrium between surface precipitates solution chemistry. Two types precipitation products were both at high pH: Mg-Al-Fe LDH a C-N-(A-)S-H phase with small concentration Al. Dissolved Al incorporate more in L/S, low incorporates into gel, altering its morphology. In addition, Ca-Ti-Si-rich globular domes, Ca-Fe-Ti-rich nano-dome like hydrogarnets on fiber surfaces observed.

The effect of heating on the dissolution of alkaline earth silicate fibers in a simple amino acid solution and water.
In order to evaluate the effect of pre-heating on biosolubility and water-resistance of alkaline earth silicate (AES) fibers in MgO-SrO-SiO2 and MgO-CaO-SrO-SiO2 compositions, dissolution experiments of the heat-treated (from 110 degrees C to 1,260 degrees C) AES fibers have been carried out in a glycine solution and in distilled water at 40 degrees C for 50 h. The dissolution experiments show ...

Although blockor granular-type sintered hydroxyapatite are known to show excellent tissue responses and good osteoconductivity, apatite powder elicits inflammatory response. For the fabrication of hydroxyapatite block or granules, sintering is commonly employed. However, the inorganic component of bone and tooth is not high crystalline hydroxyapatite but low crystalline B-type carbonate apatite...
متن کاملDeformation-resembling microstructure created by fluid-mediated dissolution–precipitation reactions
Deformation microstructures are widely used for reconstructing tectono-metamorphic events recorded in rocks. In crustal settings deformation is often accompanied and/or succeeded by fluid infiltration and dissolution-precipitation reactions. However, the microstructural consequences of dissolution-precipitation in minerals have not been investigated experimentally. Here we conducted experiments...
متن کاملMicrotubule assembly and disassembly at alkaline pH
Although it is now apparent that the intracellular pH may rise considerably above neutrality under physiological conditions, information on the effect of alkaline pH on microtubule assembly and disassembly is still quite fragmentay. We have studied the assembly/disassembly of bovine brain microtubule protein at alkaline pH in vitro. When microtubules are assembled to a new steady state at pH le...
